Khalig

Born​ ​Gregory​ ​Emelio​ ​Walker, reggae​ ​artist​ ​”Khalig”​ ​is​ ​said​ ​to have​ ​finally​ ​chosen​ ​a​ ​home​ ​for his​ ​music.​ ​After​ ​been​ ​working diligently​ ​over​ ​the​ ​years​ ​to​ ​get onto​ ​the​ ​music​ ​scene,​ ​Khalig is​ ​now​ ​partnered​ ​with​ ​Foot Print​ ​Records,​ ​a​ ​Canadian based​ ​record​ ​label;​ ​to​ ​put​ ​his music​ ​to​ ​the​ ​world.
Khalig​ ​is​ ​a​ ​potent​ ​reggae​ ​singer/songwriter/producer,​ ​born​ ​in​ ​the​ ​hills​ ​of​ ​St.​ ​Andrew.​ ​He​ ​grew​ ​up under​ ​single​ ​parenting​ ​conditions​ ​for​ ​the​ ​most​ ​part​ ​of​ ​his​ ​youth.​ ​He​ ​attended​ ​Dunrobin​ ​Primary School​ ​in​ ​Kingston​ ​and​ ​graduated​ ​in​ ​1999.​ ​Then​ ​went​ ​onto​ ​boarding​ ​school​ ​at​ ​Knox​ ​College​ ​in the​ ​hills​ ​of​ ​Spalding,​ ​the​ ​border​ ​of​ ​Clarendon​ ​and​ ​Manchester.
Graduating​ ​high​ ​school​ ​in​ ​the​ ​year​ ​2004,​ ​Khalig​ ​landed​ ​a​ ​job​ ​in​ ​a​ ​prominent​ ​aluminium company​ ​in​ ​2005.​ ​So​ ​he​ ​was​ ​back​ ​in​ ​Kingston​ ​to​ ​begin​ ​life​ ​as​ ​a​ ​young​ ​adult.​ ​Transitioning​ ​from just​ ​a​ ​bright​ ​young​ ​boy​ ​into​ ​a​ ​young​ ​man​ ​in​ ​corporate​ ​Jamaica,​ ​he​ ​also​ ​had​ ​other​ ​ambitions. One​ ​of​ ​which​ ​was​ ​his​ ​passion​ ​for​ ​music;​ ​writing​ ​songs​ ​and​ ​singing.
With​ ​his​ ​eyes​ ​steadily​ ​on​ ​his​ ​musical​ ​dream,​ ​Khalig;​ ​after​ ​being​ ​laid​ ​off​ ​from​ ​his​ ​job​ ​for​ ​a​ ​second time,decided​ ​not​ ​to​ ​return​ ​to​ ​work​ ​in​ ​2009.​ ​Directing​ ​his​ ​focus​ ​and​ ​attention​ ​to​ ​his​ ​music​ ​career and​ ​has​ ​been​ ​doing​ ​that​ ​ever​ ​since.​ ​Khalig​ ​also​ ​became​ ​a​ ​father​ ​in​ ​2010.​ ​While​ ​traversing​ ​the garrison​ ​streets​ ​daily,​ ​he​ ​chose​ ​to​ ​walk​ ​a​ ​lawful​ ​path​ ​and​ ​does​ ​music​ ​that​ ​teaches​ ​life’s​ ​lessons.
CEO​ ​of​ ​Foot​ ​Print​ ​Records,​ ​Kevin​ ​Foote​ ​said​ ​he​ ​sees​ ​Khalig​ ​as​ ​a​ ​potential​ ​world​ ​leader​ ​in reggae​ ​music​ ​and​ ​hopes​ ​now​ ​he​ ​will​ ​get​ ​the​ ​break​ ​he​ ​has​ ​been​ ​working​ ​towards.​ ​Hence, signing​ ​the​ ​artist​ ​to​ ​said​ ​label.​ ​Khalig,​ ​over​ ​the​ ​years​ ​has​ ​worked​ ​with​ ​different​ ​producers, namely​ ​Stasha​ ​”Stashment”​ ​Smith​ ​of​ ​Stashment​ ​Productions,​ ​Carlton​ ​”DjKrush”​ ​Marshall​ ​of Krushproof​ ​Muzik​ ​,​ ​and​ ​Earnest​ ​”Fada​ ​Romie”​ ​Braithwaite​ ​of​ ​Fada​ ​Romie​ ​Records;​ ​just​ ​to​ ​name a​ ​few.
Being​ ​in​ ​the​ ​studio​ ​investing​ ​the​ ​hours,​ ​Khalig​ ​and​ ​Foot​ ​Print​ ​Records​ ​are​ ​now​ ​set​ ​to​ ​release the​ ​first​ ​single​ ​from​ ​the​ ​union​ ​entitled​ ​’Lord​ ​Have​ ​Mercy’.​ ​While​ ​already​ ​enjoying​ ​national​ ​radio airplay​ ​for​ ​a​ ​song​ ​called​ ​’This​ ​Jungle’​ ​produced​ ​by​ ​Krushproof​ ​Muzik.
