GOSPEL act Jermaine Edwards gave an energetic and inspirational performance at the St Catherine Municipal Corporation’s Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and Concert held at Emancipation Square in Spanish Town, last Friday.

The singer used the occasion to reach out to at risk youngsters and sought to preserve the rich heritage of the Old Capital.

“I was born in Kingston but grew up Spanish Town…and mi nah move until mi take back this town. I want to encourage the youths. A lot people tell you say you nah go make it, nuh make no body tell nutten if you have a dream go after it,” said Edwards as he made his way onto the stage.

He delivered tracks, including Lift Jesus Higher, When I Think of The Goodness of Jesus, It’s A Beautiful Day, Redeemed, I’ m Under The Rock, Jesus Is Keeping Me Alive, We Nah Bow, No More Murder, One Day At A Time, I’ m Blessed, and Don’t Count Me Out.

Edwards told the Jamaica Observer that next year he will be mentoring young people, along with the release of an album.

“I started working on the album already. This, will be my sixth album,” he said.

The Yuletide concert also saw satisfying performances from the Blazing Genesis Band, Portmore Dancers, Lighthouse Assembly and the Glad Tidings Open Bible Church, New Life Community Church, Church of God of Prophrcy Choirs.
