Intent on leaving an indelible mark on the Jamaican music industry, female recording artiste Starface continues to make positive strides on the entertainment circuit. Prior to her transition to Christianity then Queen of the Dancehall, Lady Saw even gave her an official endorsement proclaiming the emerging star as one to watch for the foreseeable future.
Born Nadesha Edwards, this Denham Town native is anything but one dimensional as prior to her evolution into a recording artiste she was quite the connoisseur of manufacturing beats, subsequently forging numerous tracks for her early recordings. A talent soon recognised by her family and friend who encouraged her to pursue the art form.
Her assiduity to mastering the various facets of music soon caught the attention of noted recording imprint Konsequence Muzik thereupon landing her a feature on the ‘Ride Along’ rhythm compilation alongside dancehall A-lister Beenie Man among others. Now signed to the aforementioned she has since gone on to record several singles including ‘Tun up the Love’, ‘Love John’, ‘Whine Up’, ‘Hold My Man’ and ‘Naah Lef.’ All of which have garnered favourable rotation across the diaspora. However, ‘Whine Up’ has been her most successful recording to date.
With aspirations of becoming a global superstar, Starface says music is not just a job but a way of life for her. Hence a lot, though not all of her music comes from a personal space. A philanthropist at heart, Starface notes that her drive to succeed is not merely for personal gratification but also to assist in nation building and rendering aid to many of the displaced and disenfranchised within our society.
Filled with ebullience and some potent lyrics Starface is very optimistic about attaining her goals and wants not only to break new boundaries for the genre but also to be a positive voice of change for women in the industry.
