Deidrian Williams, A.K.A. D-Will, was born in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, Jamaica where music played an integral part in his upbringing. Performing in church choirs by the age of 4 and winning his first talent scout by the age of seven, it was evident from a young age that a star was in the making.
D-Will became a household name in the Durham Region when he opened up for the Ajax Caribbean Day Celebrations in 2012. As an advocate for “Stopping Gun Violence”, D-Will writes his own music to uplift and bring awareness to the tragedies and triumphs of the urban community. His first single “When Me Roll” and “Stop the Killing” became the official anthem for the 2014 Pave the Way for Youth, hosted by VIA, in Toronto.
Often affectionately labeled by female dancehall-reggae fans as the “pretty boy” of dancehall music, relative newcomer to the scene D-Will has surprised many with his latest move. He was under immense pressure from the fans to capitalize on his image and release a sexy summer song, like he has proved to be capable of doing. Instead, for this summer he has suddenly chosen to release the much needed and more important conscious single “The Prayer Song”.
