The popular television talent show Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehallreturns for its 11th season on January 20, next year.
Although the format remains the same generally, for the up-coming season the producers have come up with a few new elements to ensure greater participation by hopefuls and audience. Among the major injections for this new season is a restructuring of the audition process.
The show’s executive producer, Mark Kenny, told the Jamaica Observer that the auditions will have more of a stage show feel with contestants performing for a live audience in the five venues across Jamaica. In addition, the auditions will now start at 12:00 noon and go up to 6:00 pm, as opposed to 9:00 am to 3:oo pm.
“The shift in time will accommodate the contestants who have to travel to the venues, while the stage show format will expose them to the stage from early in the process. We have also shifted a couple venues to facilitate the format. In Sav, we’ve moved from Manning’s School to Independence Park, which is just right across the road. While in Ocho Rios, we are no longer at Island Village; we will move to Turtle River Park,” said Kenny.
The auditions will be held on November 18 in Savanna-la- Mar; November 25 in Ocho Rios; on December 2 it will be at the Portmore HEART Academy; December 9 at Tolan’s Total Service Station in May Pen; and wraps in the Corporate Area on December 16 at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre.
The prizes for this season will remain the same as last year, with each winner walking away with $1.5 million in cash. Music producer Chrome has been brought on-board to guide the hopefuls during the upcoming season.
