Thirty years ago, he topped the charts with Territory . Singer Hopeton Lindo is once again on top, as his latest single Homely Girl takes is the number one song on the South Florida Reggae chart.

Homely Girl is a remake of the 1974 hit by the Chi-Lites. Their version reached number 3 on the Billboard Black Singles chart, number 54 on the Hot 100 chart, and number 5 in the UK. In 1989 British reggae band UB40 released a cover which became a hit in four European territories including the UK.

Lindo grew up in the Kencot area of Kingston. He recorded his first song Black History for producer Mikey “Dread” Campbell.

His most recent album, My World, was released a year ago. Lindo has co-written songs including Temptress by Maxi Priest and Can You (Brian and Tony Gold).
