BOB Marley’s star is back on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, California.

The monument was replaced by representatives of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce which administers the popular tourist attraction, late last week after it was discovered vandalised on Monday, October 23 .

Ana Martinez, vice-president for the Hollywood Walk of Fame at the chamber of commerce, posted a photo of the replaced terrazzo and brass monument on her Twitter page stating, “Bob Marley Walk of Fame star looking better than ever.”

In an interview with the Jamaica Observer at the time of the incident, Martinez stated that it would take about one week to have the star repaired and replaced by the Hollywood Historic Trust, and it wolud cost nearly US$3,000. The brass pieces, including the name plate, were reused.

According to US media reports, the star appears to have been damaged with a sledgehammer or something heavy, which resulted in huge dugouts in the terrazzo and brass monument located at 7080 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood. Marley is the only Jamaican artiste to be so recognised. He was posthumously awarded in February of 2001.

When it was discovered, Martinez took to social media to express her horror at the act of vandalism.

“Why would anyone do this to Bob Marley’s star? Help me understand. The Walk of Fame is a State-registered historic landmark! Disrespectful,” she said on Twitter. “This is considered vandalism to a State Historic Landmark,” she continued.
